Welcome to the NCC newsletter – keeping you up to date with the latest events and promotions from the North East’s premier indoor climbing centre. We have an exciting diary of events throughout the coming months including sponsored bouldering competitions, the latest climbing film premiers, equipment demo nights and much more. NEW ROUTESMicky Page and Dan Wilson have been very busy over the last couple of weeks to bring you over 1000 feet of new climbing at the centre. Both the Bouldering and Central Zones have been re-set so there’s no excuse not to kick start your winter training schedule. We have also refitted the Tufa features into the bouldering zone to create some gnarly new problems. Recommended roped route lines include: - line 43 Yellow (7b), line 52 Orange (6a+), line 38 White (5+), line 57 Yellow (6b+), line 60 White (6b), line 63 new volume features ( 6c+)and a must do – line 72 Pink (6b)- through the roof. WHAT’S NEW FOR CUSTOMERS
 • New Lighting – We have now upgraded the lux levels in the Central and Education zones making it a brighter, white light. • Our RockGym is now open and expanding – In addition to the Campus training area the centre now also has its very own gym base on the mezzanine level with cardio machines, ideal for warming up and down, or just a total cardio workout and FREE for paying members of the centre. You will need to sign a disclaimer at reception and you must be over 18yrs. to use this kit. • Spectator Heating - After all that climbing / training you will now be much more relaxed and warmer through the winter months with six radiant heaters now installed on the Mezzanine level. EVENTSOutside In - A big thanks to all who attended our 3rd annual Outside In event which was a huge success with tickets sold out before the event. The bouldering, auto-belay relay, pull-up, and “rodeo clip” comps were extremely popular and with the La Sportiva boot demo and master classes from Neil Gresham, the centre was buzzing . The day was rounded off by comp winner’s prizes and our famous raffle prize draws with customers winning everything from ropes to chalk balls. Neil Gresham also finished off with a lecture on his latest adventures from around the globe. All customers came away with goody bags from sponsors Petzl, Climb Magazine, Beal, La Sportiva and Rockworks Climbing. Once again thanks to everyone who attended and to the staff who put all the effort in to make this such an enjoyable event for everyone.
The Frozen World - Free Lecture - Stu Gallagher, the ultimate all round outdoor specialist is coming to NCC on Oct 21stat 8.30pm to give a lecture on his latest adventures - climbing and sailing in Antarctica. Check out an extract from September 2011 Climb magazine, page 56. - Spaces are limited, so get there early and its free to all members. COMING SOON….New climbing film “The Scene” – 8.10pm Wed. 16th Nov. 2011 at the Tyneside Cinema - Don’t miss this big screen U.K. premier! The Scene is one of the largest climbing films of 2011 and will have an estimated 200+ live screenings worldwide. This film features top climbers like Chris Sharma, Dave Graham, Nalle Hukkataival, Killian Fischhuber, Steph Davis, Matt Wilder and many more.

The Berghaus Bouldering Series - This will run over three rounds with the first round taking place next month. With world class boulderer Micky Page and Dan Wilson setting the problems there will be some awesome blocs to send. Rounds 1 & 2 will be over weekends so you’ll have plenty time to complete your card and the 3rd and final round will be on a Friday evening with prizes and presentations afterwards. There will be £100’s of sponsor prizes on offer to all that enter. Comp entry cards are just £1.00 from reception per round with the highest number of points winning the overall series.
