Welcome to the NCC newsletter – keeping you up to date with the latest events and promotions from the North East’s premier climbing centre on a regular basis. As usual we have an exciting range of events this month with more comps for all, equipment demos, and a free Friday night film show!
EVENTS
La Sportiva Boot Demo in partnership with Rockworks Climbing – Thurs eve. Feb 9th
In partnership with Rockworks Climbing on Thurs Feb 9th – 6pm onwards – free pair of boots in raffle draw
Half Term Kids Clubs are back – 13th till 19th Feb.
Ring reception to book spaces. £7.50 per child, per session or 5 sessions for £35
The BMC Leading Ladder will be held at NCC from Saturday 11th to Sunday 26th February 2012.
There will be ten routes from grade F5+ to F8a.
To take part just turn up with a friend, pay the usual wall entry fee and purchase a scorecard from the wall for only £1.
The BMC Leading Ladder is a fun lead climbing competition that starts in October and runs at 29 UK walls until the end of March, giving you the opportunity to travel around the country and take part in leading competitions throughout the winter.
Berghaus Winter Bouldering Competition 2012 - Second Round Feb 17th – 19th (Free Berghaus Raffle)
Suitable for all levels of climber - the emphasis is on the fun and social aspect of climbing.
Problems range fromV0 - V9+. Check out website for 1st round results and photos.
Entry is £1.00 plus normal Boulder entry per round. Every time you hand in your scorecard you have a chance to win some fantastic Berghaus prizes as well as your category – Good Luck
Film Night Fri 24th Feb. 8pm start.
We will be screening the latest climbing films, free to all NCC members. Tickets are going fast (2 tickets max. per person- ask at reception) So bring your own popcorn!
BMC Youth Comp – Sat 25th Feb
The BMC Youth Climbing Series comes to NCC offering fun climbing competition for young people.
The series is extremely popular and attracts hundreds of entrants across the country.
There are five categories, with separate girls and boys competitions, that follow the IFSC (International Federation of Sport Climbing) system based on year of birth. The categories are called Youth A, B, C, D and E.
In 2012 these are:
Youth A – those born in 1995 & 1996
Youth B – those born in 1997 & 1998
Youth C – those born in 1999 & 2000
Youth D – those born in 2001 & 2002
Youth E – those born in 2003 & 2004

MLTA Disability Awareness Training ‘Climbing for All’ Friday 2nd March 2012
£50 per person 9am till 4pm
MLTE accredited and provides 1 point for Continual Personal Development
Build a better understanding of disability and develop skills to support disabled people into rock climbing.
DMM Gear Testing & Red Chilli Boot Demo 8th March
Watch some climbing gear tested to destruction while trying on some of Red Chili’s current range of climbing shoes. Thursday March 8th from 6pm.
Master Class 30th March
