OUTDOOR CLIMBING DAY - SUNDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER

This one day course is primarily for those who have already started climbing at the wall and would like to experience and learn the skills required to climb outdoors.

We will visit two of Northumberland’s classic sandstone outcrops and participants will have the opportunity to climb, on a top rope, a number of routes at a grade suited to your ability.

During the day and in small groups technical issues will be discussed and the following will be demonstrated :- 

 

  • The modern lead rack
  • Safe placements of nuts, hexes and cams
  • Selecting safe anchors and setting up top ropes
  • Abseiling
  • Outdoor climbing grades
  • Climbing features and climbing techniques
 

The instructor/student ratio on the course will be 1:6 and there will be a senior Mountain Instructor in attendance.

 

The course is scheduled for 20/09/09 and the cost is £50.00 (inclusive of instruction and equipment). Transport is not included.
