Customer Information April 2021

1. Staff will call members forward to reception keeping appropriate social distance; a screen will be in place to protect staff and customers.

2. Members to swipe in or staff will find their details on our database - this will be kept for the government’s track & trace records.

3. Members to use contactless payment where possible.

4. Safe social distancing within the centre:
Climbers climbing have right of way, please wait or find another climb. Auto belay area - Climbers must leave this area if they are not climbing. Maintain social distance between problems in the Boulder Zone. Climber must not low level traverse in the central or education zones, only in the boulder zone.

5. Please remember you may only climb with people that are from your household or within your support bubble.

6.We are still able to deliver our organized kid clubs & coaching up to groups of six per instructor.

7.We are able to deliver our courses and coaching for individuals and group that are from the same household or support bubble to a maximum of six people.

8.Face coverings MUST be worn at all times in the centre by customers, except when you are climbing or belaying & using training equipment in training room.
• Please note under 11 years of age or if individuals are medically exempt do not have to wear a face covering.
• Staff will challenge customers if they are not wearing a face covering, this is for the health & safety of everyone.

9. Between EVERY climb you MUST sanitize your hands at one of our stations (these should be pointed out on arrival)

10. Use of toilets: one person or one household at a time, please use the flip sign on the door – climbing shoes are not allowed in the toilet areas.

11. We are not selling drinks and snacks all pre-packed – we are unable to fill drinks bottles at the minute but we do sell bottles of water. We are allowed to sell take away drinks and snacks which can be consumed outside in our garden area.

12. Our Entrance and Exit system – Enter from our front door – when leaving use bottom left Exit which is clearly signposted.

13. Disabled access remains the same beside the boulder zone. If you need any assistance please ring reception, we are more than happy to help.

14. Once members understand and are familiar with this information, they may make their way to climbing zones, place kit in duckets and enjoy their climbing. Please remember you may not have climbed for over a year so take your time, lower your grade, check your knot and use a buddy system.

15. If the centre becomes busy we will trigger our 2 hour time slots and staff will inform members of this, so at present no need to book in advance. However you may wish to call to centre before your visit to find out how busy we are.

If you are unsure or feeling anxious about returning to our Centre please contact us and can arrange a one to one social distancing meeting during quite times. Where we can walk you around the centre and chat about what safe measures we have put in place for all our customers.

Never been climbing and fancy a go?

A fully qualified instructor will cover the basics and get you climbing on the walls as much as you can. All equipment provided.

These one hour sessions are available to 4 family members from the same household. Ages 5 years upwards and can be booked in advance at any time.  


Join us at the Church for the screening of The Brit Rock Film Tour 2018 with its strongest line up to date. We will be serving beer and refreshments at our pop up cinema event.


Our great value Parent Belay Course lasts for two hours and will teach you how to put on a climbing harness and tie a figure of eight knot with stopper. You will then learn how to belay safely and correctly, including holding falls and lowering the climber you will also be shown how to correctly use the auto-belays. 

Also included is a years annual membership & remember customers don’t pay if they are just belaying.

For those who want to try climbing outside but can’t commit to a full day, we will be hosting our Crag Drop-In sessions. You will have the opportunity to experience climbing outdoors with our qualified & experienced staff. 


A first for the Northeast - climb with the lights out using range of Petzl head torches then watch helmets tested to destruction with the Petzl Breaker machine (with the lights on).


We have teamed up with one of the UK's best all-round climbers and most experienced climbing coach- Neil Gresham to offer our customers a series of coaching workshops through the coming months.

The BMC YCS has been expanding at a rapid rate for the last couple of years with over 800 young climbers entering the competition in 2014. Once again we will be hosting round one this year.
